Threading a sewing machine
Threading a sewing machine for the first time may seem overwhelming, but with practice, it becomes second nature. Although each machine may have slight variations in threading, the basic thread path remains the same. To help you begin, here's a general description.
Guide the thread from the spool by placing it onto the spool pin. Pull the thread off the spool and pass it through the first thread guide mounted on top of the machine. |
Move the thread along the thread guide, pulling it forward, and then slide it into the narrow slot. Guide the thread toward the bottom of the machine. |
In the narrow slot, pull the thread around the curve and back up to the top of the machine. This action will bring you to the take-up lever. |
Slide the thread through the take-up lever, then bring it back down to the needle. The thread will go back into the same narrow slot. Pull it through the final thread guide located just above the needle, and thread the needle from the front to the back. |
